Percocet
What is Percocet?
Percocet is a combination of acetaminophen and oxycodone that is used to alleviate pain.
Important information:
Percocet may be addictive. It is not indicated for pregnant women.
Before taking this medicine:
Stop taking MAOI drugs two weeks before starting a program of Percocet. Tell you doctor if you have liver or kidney disease or a history of addiction.
How should I take Percocet?
Percocet is taken in pill form at the dosage and frequency needed to control pain.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Percocet is often prescribed on an “as needed” basis, so there are no scheduled doses to be missed.
What happens if I overdose?
An overdose is potentially fatal; call the poison control center or 911.
What should I avoid while taking Percocet?
Avoid driving if the drug makes you drowsy. Avoid alcohol and any medications that contain acetaminophen.
Percocet side effects:
Mild side effects include constipation and drowsiness; serious side effects include confusion, nausea and slowed respiration.
Percocet dosing information:
Percocet is taken as a 2.5 mg or 5 mg tablet every six hours, depending on the level of pain.
What other drugs will affect Percocet?
MAO inhibitors, alcohol, sedatives and narcotic drugs will all increase the impact of Percocet.
