Halcion
What is Halcion?
Halcion, also known as Triazolam, is a benzodiazepine that is used to treat insomnia. It is similar to Valium in terms of its chemical structure.
Important information:
Halcion should only be taken for short periods of time to avoid developing a dependency on the medication.

How should I take Halcion?
You should take Halcion shortly before going to bed and on an empty stomach.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Halcion is only taken to address short-term insomnia; if you miss a dose, there is no need to take another dose straight away. Wait until the next time you intend to sleep before taking Halcion again.
What happens if I overdose?
Halcion overdoses can be fatal, and symptoms include slurred speech, confusion and coma. If you think you have overdosed, you should seek medical attention straight away.
What should I avoid while taking Halcion?
You should avoid driving or operating heavy machinery while taking Halcion until you understand how the drug affects you.
Halcion side effects:
Common side effects of Halcion include drowsiness, dizziness, headaches and menstrual irregularity. Less common side effects include numbness or itchiness. Call a doctor if you experience chest pain, difficulty urinating or jaundice while taking Halcion.
Halcion dosing information
For most patients, a Halcion dosage of 0.25mg should be taken before going to bed, though some patients with low body weight may only need a 0.125mg dose. Halcion dosages should not exceed 0.5mg.
What other drugs will affect Halcion?
You should not drink alcohol or eat products containing grapefruit while taking Halcion. Certain medications, such as birth control pills, tuberculosis drugs and indigestion medications may all interact with Halcion.
