Vivitrol

What is Vivitrol?

Injectable solution or oral tablet used to treat alcohol and opioid dependence.

Important information:

Do not use if having drug or alcohol withdrawal. Patients with hepatitis or liver failure should not be prescribed Vivitrol.

Before taking this medicine:

At least two weeks prior to usage, do not use any opioid medication or alcohol. Inform your doctor of any significant allergies or medical history.

How should I take Vivitrol?

Only as prescribed by your physician.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Do not take additional medication to make up for missed dosage. Resume dosage as prescribed.

What happens if I overdose?

Contact Emergency Officials (911) or go to the ER.

What should I avoid while taking Vivitrol?

Do not drive or operate machinery until you’re familiar with this medications effects.

Vivitrol side effects:

Side effects include dizziness, muscle-cramps, and drowsiness. Notify your physician if side-effects are bothersome or do not desist.

Vivitrol dosing information:

Injection includes one dose per month provided by a Healthcare Professional. Tablets are usually prescribed at 50mg per day.

What other drugs will affect Vivitrol?

Inform your doctor of all medication you’re taking including OTCs. Some OTC medications may cause adverse reactions.
