Palladone

What is Palladone?

Palladone is an extended-release capsule that contains hydromorphone. It is used to control severe chronic pain.

Important information:

Palladone is addictive and has a high potential for abuse.

Before taking this medicine:

Palladone may cause death if taken by someone who is not already narcotic-tolerant.

How should I take Palladone?

Swallow the capsule whole once every 24 hours. Do not chew or crush it or death may occur.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Take the missed dose as soon as possible, but do not take the next dose until a full 24 hours has elapsed.

What happens if I overdose?

Seek emergency care immediately. Overdoses can be fatal.

What should I avoid while taking Palladone?

Do not consume alcohol while taking Palladone or death may occur.

Palladone side effects:

Common side effects include constipation, drowsiness, and a dry mouth. Severe side effects include slowed breathing, dizziness, hallucinations, and an elevated heart rate.

Palladone dosing information:

The dose varies widely depending the patient’s prior exposure to narcotics and pain-relief needs.

What other drugs will affect Palladone?

Do not take Palladone if you are also taking cimetidine or sodium oxybate. Many other medications can interact with Palladone, so inform your doctor of all of your medications before starting to take Palladone.
