Campral

What is Campral?

Also known as acamprostate, campral is a medication used to treat alcoholism.

Important information:

Campral is meant to fix the chemical imbalances that alcohol causes within the brain.

Before taking this medicine:

Tell your doctor if you have any kidney problems, depression, allergies or are taking any other prescription.

How should I take Campral?

Follow the directions on the prescription label. Typically you swallow this medication in tablet form.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Take the dose as soon as you remember, but do not take double the amount.

What happens if I overdose?

Contact poison control center if any severe effects occur, such as an allergic reaction, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and suicidal thoughts.

What should I avoid while taking Campral?

Avoid taking this medication if you have kidney problems, depression and allergies to acamprosate.

Campral side effects:

Feelings of sadness, fear, depression.

Campral dosing information:

The usual dosage is two 333 mg tablets taken three times a day.

What other drugs will affect Campral?

Do not mix alcohol with campral.
