What is hydromorphone?

It is an opioid pain reliever that treats moderate to severe pain.

Important information:

Hydromorphone can lead to addiction or fatal overdose.

Before taking this medicine:

You should inform your doctor if you have asthma or respiratory issues, or if you have blockage in your stomach or intestines.

How should I take Hydromorphone?

This drug is commonly taken orally.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Do not double your dosage to make up for a missed dose. Skip a missed dose if time is close to your next dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Contact a poison medical center or an emergency medical line. Signs of an overdose can include slowed breathing, slowed heart rate, cold skin, extreme drowsiness, muscle weakness and fainting.

What should I avoid while taking Hydromorphone?

Do not mix with alcohol. Do not perform high functioning activities while under the influence of hydromorphone.

Hydromorphone side effects:

Nausea, headaches, constipation, sweating, vomiting, stomach pain, dry mouth, flushing, and feelings of happiness or sadness.

Hydromorphone dosing information:

If you are an adult taking tablets daily, two to four mg can be taken every four to six hours.

What other drugs will affect Hydromorphone?

Alcohol and other drugs that cause drowsiness.
