What is Alprazolam?

Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine used to treat panic disorders and anxiety disorders.

Important information:

Those who are pregnant or allergic to benzodiazepines should refrain from taking alprazolam.

Before taking this medicine:

Asthma, liver disease, and glaucoma patients should discuss their medical history with a physician before taking alprazolam.

How should I take Alprazolam?

Patients should take the extended-release form whole and allow the dissolvable tablets to dissolve without chewing. Liquid alprazolam should be dosed with a dose-measuring cup or spoon.

What happens if I miss a dose?

The missed dose should be skipped if it is almost time to take the next dose. Otherwise, patients should take the missed dose immediately upon realizing.

What happens if I overdose?

In the event of an overdose, get emergency medical help.

What should I avoid while taking Alprazolam?

Alcohol consumption, grapefruit, and driving should be avoided while on alprazolam.

Alprazolam side effects:

Some side effects of alprazolam include dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia, irritability, concentration problems, poor balance, diarrhea, nausea, headaches and blurred vision.

Alprazolam dosing information:

The typical adult dose of alprazolam is 0.25 mg to 0.5 mg taken three times each day.

What other drugs will affect Alprazolam?

Drugs such as those that cause drowsiness, hormonal birth control pills, some blood pressure medications, antifungals, seizure medications and certain antibiotics can affect alprazolam.
