What is Disulfiram?
Disulfiram is prescribed to treat alcoholism.
Important information:
Disulfiram treats alcoholism by causing ‘hangover’ effects 5-10 minutes after consuming alcohol.
Before taking this medicine:
Always obtain a prescription from your doctor before taking Disulfiram. Do not consume alcohol 12 hours before taking this medicine.
How should I take Disulfiram?
Disulfiram is taken orally once per day.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Take your dose as soon as possible. If it is close to time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take 2 doses at once.
What happens if I overdose?
Call your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
What Whould I Avoid While taking Disulfiram?
Know how Disulfiram affects you before operating machinery. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol in beverages, medicine, and sauces.
Disulfiram side effects:
Disulfiram may cause headaches, drowsiness, and metallic or garlic taste in the mouth.
Disulfiram dosing information:
Disulfiram is available in doses of 250-500mg.
