What is Vicodin?
Vicodin is a pain reliever used to alleviate moderate to intense pain.
Important information:
Vicodin can be extremely habit forming.
Before taking this medicine:
Make sure you have not recently consumed alcohol or used any other depressants. Vicodin should not be taken within 14 days of using an MAO inhibitor.
How should I take Vicodin?
Vicodin must be taken as instructed by a doctor or pharmacist.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Do not take additional medication to make up for a missed dose.
What happens if I overdose?
An overdose can lead to breathing cessation or liver damage and can be fatal. If an overdose occurs, obtain immediate medical attention.
What should I avoid while taking Vicodin?
Avoid drinking alcohol, driving a motor vehicle or operating machinery after taking the medication.
Vicodin side effects:
Some common side effects of Vicodin are sleepiness, dry mouth, vision changes, digestive issues and headache. More severe side effects that require a doctor’s attention are decreased respiration or heart rate, dizziness, mental fog, convulsions, nausea or appetite loss, seizure or excessive bruising or bleeding.
Vicodin dosing information:
Vicodin is typically prescribed on an as-needed basis. It is usually not recommended to take Vicodin on a regular schedule.
What other drugs will affect Vicodin?
Any drug that makes you drowsy can be life threatening when taken with Vicodin. taking acetaminophen-containing medications with Vicodin can damage your liver. MAO inhibitors can cause a hazardous drug interaction when taken within 14 days of consuming Vicodin.
