Roxanol

What is Roxanol?

Roxanol is a brand of morphine (a narcotic) used to relieve pain.

Important information:

This medicine should only be used by patients who have already become tolerant of weaker concentrations of a narcotic medicine.

Before taking this medicine:

Roxanol should not be taken if you have respiratory problems and frequent constipation. Discuss with your doctor if you are pregnant or have preexisting medical issues.

How should I take Roxanol?

Only take Roxanol using the dropper provided by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Take a missed dose as soon as possible, but do not take two doses at once.

What happens if I overdose?

Symptoms of overdose include slow heartbeat, shallow breathing, fainting, decreased pupil size, blue-tinted skin or nails, decreased body temperature, confusion, dizziness, and muscle weakness. Professional medical assistance must be contacted immediately.

What should I avoid while taking Roxanol?

MAO inhibitors and alcohol should not be taken within fourteen days of starting Roxanol.

Roxanol side effects:

Side effects include nausea, dizziness, fatigue, sweating, and constipation.

Roxanol dosing information:

Dosages are very small and to be prescribed by a doctor; Roxanol is a particularly strong narcotic.

What other drugs will affect Roxanol?

Roxonal may interact poorly with other narcotics and medications that impact breathing or incite drowsiness.
