What is Meperidine?

Meperidine is a narcotic used to relieve significant pain.

Important information:

Meperidine is hazardous for people with asthma or respiratory problems and can be addictive.

Before taking this medicine:

Don’t drink or take an MAO inhibitor before taking Meperidine.

How should I take Meperidine?

Liquid Meperidine should be taken with a dose-measuring device designed for use with the medication. Pills should be taken whole and not broken or crushed.

What happens if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose, take the medication at the next sign of pain.

What happens if I overdose?

An overdose can reduce your respiration rate, make you extremely sleepy, cause muscle weakness, make you feel dizzy, or cause death.

What should I avoid while taking Meperidine?

Avoid consuming alcohol, driving, operating machinery or doing dangerous activities while on Meperidine.

Meperidine side effects:

It’s common for Meperidine to cause dizziness, drowsiness, headache, nausea or sweating. However, if you feel like you can’t breathe properly, are going to faint, are having hallucinations or can’t control your muscles, get immediate medical attention.

Meperidine dosing information:

For adults, it is commonly recommended to take 50 to 100mg of Meperidine every 4 hours or as needed for pain.

What other drugs will affect Meperidine?

taking Meperidine with sleeping pills, other narcotics, anxiety medication, seizure medication or depression medicine can be dangerous.
