What is Fentanyl?

Fentanyl is a pain reducing drug that usually comes in lozenge, tablet, or patch form.

Before taking this medicine:

You should talk to your doctor about any breathing problems and discuss any current medications that you are currently taking.

How should I take Fentanyl?

The fentanyl patch is the most commonly prescribed and is only worn on the skin. This patch is not intended to be taken internally.

What happens if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose, you should not apply extra patches , but simply reapply a new patch and continue on your prescribed schedule of a usual 72 hours.

What happens if I overdose?

If an overdose occurs, one could experience drowsiness, convulsions, dizziness, cold clammy skin, and/or a slow heart beat.

What should I avoid while taking Fentanyl?

For the first few days, patients should avoid operating motor vehicles until they know how their bodies will react to the drug since every dose is individualized for the patient. Intensity of alcohol may be higher.

Fentanyl side effects:

include but are not limited to dizziness, nausea, decrease in the need to urinate, and hallucinations.

What other drugs will affect Fentanyl?

if you’ve recently used monoamine oxidase inhibitors, be sure to check with your doctor because serious side effects could occur.
