Darvon is a narcotic that was is for pain.

Darvon’s generic name is propoxyphene. It was discontinued as a prescription drug in the United States in 2010.

Before taking this medicine:

People who take this medicine should make sure they are not allergic to propoxyphene. They should also be wary of taking this medication if they have ever had suicidal thoughts, suffer from a respiratory ailment or diseases of the liver or kidney. People who suffer from mental illness, alcoholism or drug addiction or have had a brain tumor or head trauma should also avoid Darvon.

Pregnant or nursing women should also not take Darvon.

How should I take Darvon?

Darvon is taken in capsule form.

What happens if I miss a dose?

People who miss a dose should take another as soon as they remember.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 911 right away.

What should I avoid while taking Darvon?

Avoid other narcotics, alcohol and any grapefruit products.

Darvon side effects:

side effects include bradycardia, shallow breathing, light-headedness, confusion, hallucinations, fainting and bizarre behavior or thoughts. People also suffer seizures and jaundice.

People take Darvon as needed. It comes in a 65 milligram capsule.
