Clonazepam

What is Clonazepam?

Clonazepam, also known as Klonopin, is a benzodiazepine commonly prescribed to treat anxiety disorders as well as for the treatment and prevention of seizures.

Important information:

Clonazepam should not be used for long periods of time and must always be taken under the supervision of a doctor. Do not use this drug if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

How should I take Clonazepam?

You should take Clonazepam at your regularly scheduled times with a glass of water. If you are prescribed a disintegrating wafer, let it dissolve in your mouth before swallowing.

What happens if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose of Clonazepam, you should take your regularly prescribed dose as soon as you remember, unless it is nearly time for you to take your next pill. You should never take extra Clonazeopam to make up for missing a dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Clonazepam overdoses can be fatal. Contact a doctor right away if you feel faint, experience muscle weakness or have trouble breathing.

What should I avoid while taking Clonazepam?

Avoid drinking alcohol while taking clonazepam, as well as other benzodiazepines. You should not drive or use heavy machinery until you are cleared to do so by a doctor.

Clonazepam side effects:

Common side effects of Clonazepam include drowsiness and fatigue as well as issues with motor control. Less common side effects include dizziness, irritation and memory loss.

Clonazepam dosing information

Clonazepam is prescribed in 0.125mg, 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg and 2mg.

What other drugs will affect Clonazepam?

Clonazepam has negative interactions with cold and allergy medications, narcotics and muscle relaxers. If you regularly take antibiotics, anti-fungal medicines or are currently taking medication for anxiety, depression or psychotic disorders, you will need to speak to a doctor before starting Clonazepam.
