What is Carisoprodol?

Carisoprodol is a muscle relaxant that is used to ease the pain associated with muscle damage.

Important information:

Carisoprodol can be addictive. It is not indicated for people with liver or kidney disease or epilepsy.

Before taking this medicine:

Be aware that it is possible to be allergic to carisoprodol. Tell your doctor about other drugs and supplements you are taking.

How should I take carisoprodol?

Carisoprodol is a tablet that is taken by mouth, with or without food.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Take the next dose at its scheduled time.

What happens if I overdose?

An overdose is cause to call 911.

What should I avoid while taking Carisoprodol?

Avoid alcohol, as it will enhance the tendency of the drug to make you drowsy.

Carisoprodol side effects:

Carisoprodol may cause you to feel drowsy. You may also experience headaches, upset stomach and a rapid heartbeat. The following symptoms constitute an emergency: respiratory distress, muscle weakness, fever, fainting or confusion.

Carisoprodol dosing information:

Carisoprodol is available in tablets of 250 mg and 350 mg, taken four times a day for two or three weeks.

What other drugs will affect Carisoprodol?

Alcohol and barbiturates, Prilosec and Luvox all interact with carisoprodol.
