Triazolam

What is Triazolam?

Triazolam is a benzodiazepine medicine used as a short term treatment for insomnia. It slows brain activity to induce sleep. It is useful for treating acute insomniac conditions such as jet lag.

Important information:

Triazolam is sold commercially as Halcion.

Before taking Triazolam:

Talk to your doctor if you use alcohol, are allergic to Triazolam, have breathing problems or mental illness, are pregnant or planning pregnancy, or are at least 65 years old.

How to take Triazolam:

Take a tablet at bedtime, by mouth. Do not take with food.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Triazolam is taken as needed.

In case of overdose:

Call a poison control center if the victim hasn’t fainted or 911 otherwise. Symptoms include drowsiness, confusion, and slurred speech.

What should I avoid while taking Triazolam?

Avoid alcohol, and grapefruit as well as grapefruit juices.

Triazolam side effects:

Side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea and vomiting, and skin tingling.

Triazolam dosing information:

Triazolam is taken once daily as needed.

What other drugs will affect Triazolam?

Antifungal medicine and HIV medicine will affect users of Triazolam.
