Temesta

What is Temesta?

Temesta(Lorazepam) is a member of a group of medicines called benzodiazepines. It is prescribed as a short term therapy for anxiety, or sleeping difficulties due to anxiety. It may also be used as a sedative before surgery or operative dental treatment.

Before taking this medicine:

If you have severe breathing or chest problems, if you are allergic to benzodiazepines or any ingredient in Lorazepam, if you have serious liver problems, if you suffer from sleep abnea, if you are breast feeding, or if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy.

How should I take Temesta?

Temesta/Lorazepam should always be taken as prescribed. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions. It should be swallowed with water.

What happens if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose do not take a double dose. If it is less than 3 hours since your usual time take it as soon as you remember. If more than 3 hours has passed from when you usually take your tablet, just take it when your next tablet is due. If you forget to take it for sleeping problems, only take it if you will be able to sleep for 7-8 hours.

If you have taken an overdose of Temesta/Lorazepam, seek help immediately either by calling your doctor or going to the nearest casualty department. Be sure to take the medicine container with you.

What Should I avoid While taking Temesta?

Avoid grapefruit juice and drinks containing caffeine because they can affect the way Lorazepam works. Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant, or may become pregnant without consulting your doctor because it can cause damage to the fetus. Do not drive until you know how this drug will affect you.

Temesta side effects:

Restlessness, agitation, aggressiveness, violent anger, sleeping difficulty, nightmares, hallucinations, personality changes, sexual arousal, abnormal behavior, false beliefs, unexplained bleeding and/or bruising, increased risk of infections, severe allergic reactions, or jaundice.

What other drugs will affect Temesta?

Tell your doctor about any other drugs you are taking. In particular, you should tell your doctor if you are taking strong pain killers, anti-anxiety drugs, antihistamines, drugs for cataplexy, anti-depressants, drugs for epilepsy, barbiturites, drugs for mood or mental disorders, drugs to treat HIV, muscle relaxants, drugs to treat delusions or hallucinations, to help with indigestion, drugs for addiction treatment, TB drugs, drugs for asthma, Parkinson’s disease drugs, or drugs to treat high blood pressure.
